About Pasikudah & Batticaloa
Stretched along Sri Lanka's serene eastern coastline, the twin destinations of Pasikudah and Batticaloa offer an exquisite blend of pristine, sun-kissed beaches and rich cultural history. Pasikudah is home to one of the most remarkable coastlines in Asia, famous for its curved, horseshoe-shaped bay of powdery white sand and transparent, calm turquoise waters. Thanks to a protective outer reef, the ocean here resembles a giant, calm swimming pool where you can safely wade out hundreds of metres into the sea, making it an idyllic tropical escape for beach lovers and luxury seekers alike.
Just a short drive south lies Batticaloa, a historic town surrounded by a vast network of scenic lagoons and misty islands. Known affectionately as the 'Land of the Singing Fish' due to a musical hum heard from the lagoon waters during full moons, Batticaloa offers a wonderfully authentic look into eastern island life. Here, you can explore the historic Batticaloa Fort, built by the Portuguese in 1628, or take a peaceful bicycle ride past quiet fishing villages, vibrant temples, and old colonial churches. Together, Pasikudah and Batticaloa offer the perfect balance between blissful, postcard-perfect beach relaxation and deep, slow-paced cultural exploration.
